Bidewell is an app for church small groups. This page says what it stores, who can see it, and how to get rid of it. It is written to be read rather than to be defensible.

What we store

What we do not store

Who can see what you write

Only the people in your group. Not other groups, not the public, and not anybody at a church unless they are a member of that particular group. This is enforced by the database itself rather than by the app asking nicely.

Somebody who joins a group later cannot read what was written before they arrived. A prayer request written to eight people in a living room stays with those eight people.

A link a leader shares deliberately, so somebody outside the group can see when and where you meet, shows only that: the time, the place, and the group name. It never carries a member list or anything from the prayer list, and the leader chooses whether the address is included.

The camera

Bidewell asks for the camera in one place: reading a QR code to join a group. Nothing is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. Declining it is fine, and the code can be typed instead.

Getting rid of it

You can delete your account from inside the app, under You. It removes your account, your prayer requests, and everything you have written, and it cannot be undone. Things you added for the group to use, like a file or a link, stay with the group.

You can also leave a group without deleting anything. What you wrote stays with the people you wrote it for.

Who else touches it

Two companies, both because the app could not work without them:

Nobody else. Your data is not sold, shared, or handed to advertisers, and there is no third party doing analytics on what you write.

Children

Bidewell is not designed for children under 13 and should not be used by them. If a child's information has ended up here, write to the address below and it will be removed.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that affects what is stored or who can see it, the app will say so rather than quietly updating the date at the top.

Asking about any of this

hello@bidewell.app. A real person reads it.
